Split is a city in central Dalmatia, Croatia, and the seat of the Split-Dalmatia County. The city was built around Diocletian's Palace (a palace/fort built for the retired Roman emperor Diocletian) where the locals sought refuge for centuries. Wandering through the historic center of Split, you can still clearly see the Roman walls, squares and temples.
It hasn't been long since smartphones and GPS devices became the norm, but luckily they're always there to help us find our way.
