The Sisak Tournament of Chivalry

The residents of Sisak often recall events from their long history, a history reaching all the way to the 4th century B.C., when Celtic and Illyric tribes populated the area. This Tournament, which takes place beneath the old fortress of Sisak, under the old Sisak fort, celebrates a single, but undoubtedly the crucial moment in the history of Sisak; the moment when the brave knights of Sisak stopped the dominant Turkish army in its march towards the west. Before the eyes of the viewers, the modern-day knights fight for the affection of their maidens and the fortress walls provide their contests with an original medieval ambient. The visitors are entertained by renaissance musicians in passages within the fort, and the youngest warriors can sign up for the children’s tournament.
