The festival of the games of chivalry

The people of Korčula have maintained their tradition of warrior dances over the past four centuries. One of them is a dance called Moreška, a war dance with sobres, which used to be performed throughout the Mediterranean, but has only been preserved and is regularly performed here, in the town Korčula. This is why Moreška has become the most distinctive symbol of Korčula in the world.

Enriched with a medieval ambience of the streets of Korčula, this dance takes one back to the glorious times of the stories of chivalry. But, Moreška is not the only traditional war dance game preserved on the island. There are other attractive dances, such as Kumpanija and Moštra, performed in other towns on Korčula - Vela Luka, Smokvice or Blato.
