Legendfest

The medieval streets of the small town of Pićan are filled with atmosphere that seems not to be of this world, an atmosphere reminiscent of fairytales and stories we neither know who by, or indeed when they were written. Istria is replete with such stories, legends and myths the plots of which take place in its picturesque forests and hills.

And the Legendfest provides the opportunity for all these stories to be told in one place. Many theater groups and associations come to Pićan to participate in the Legendfest and through their productions they uncover this world of literary and folk stories of Istria. During the Festival, the entire town is specially decorated with traditional Istrian fabrics, while giants, štrige - or rather witches - as some might call them, pirates, fairies and other fairytale characters walk the streets. /Text source: Croatian National Tourist Board/
