The Great Thursday and Great Friday procession called Following the Cross undertaken every year by the folk from the interior of the island has indeed been held for five hundred consecutive years.
This religious custom provides everyone around it with a unique spiritual experience. It is therefore no wonder the good word about the procession attended by the inhabitants of Jelsa, Pitva, Vrisnik, Svirče, Vrbanje and Vrboska has spread a long way and attracted numerous believers. /Source: Croatian National Tourist Board/
