Dubrovnik-Neretva county - Dubrovačko-neretvanska županija is the southernmost Croatian and Dalmatian county. Its center is Dubrovnik; the other larger towns are Metković and Ploče in the Neretva river delta (hence the mention in the county name). It includes the larger islands of Korčula, Lastovo, Mljet, Šipan, Lopud and Koločep. The northern part of the Mljet island is a national park, while the Baćina lakes north of Ploče are a nature park. The southernmost tip of the county includes the disputed Prevlaka peninsula. Dubrovnik is the prettiest stone jewel of the Mediterranean, a treasury-town, a tourist and economic centre that is situated in the foothills of the Srdj hill. It is listed in the UNESCO register of world cultural monument heritage. The town has an old library, exceptionally well endowed archives, an art gallery, several museums and an aquarium. It is surrounded with walls and three large fortresses and thirteen towers.

Dubrovnik is one of the most harmonious and best preserved municipal wholes of the Mediterranean. It hosts the Dubrovnik -Summer Festival "Libertas" - a member of the Association of European Festivals, scientific and literary gatherings (PEN in 1933 and 1993) and internationaltourist congresses (ASTA, FUAAV, DRV, SNAV and others).

Nature lovers can enjoy the gentle Mediterranean landscape, yachtsmen can enjoy marinas and the blue yonder. Sporting and recreational contents abound. Dubrovnik-a city with a thousand years of experience wherein every visitor can find something for themselves.
